A French Jew, a very successful businessman, who led with his wife a liberal way of life with many connections and who was envied by his neighbors. In 1992 his wife Sylviane was shot in her house while Andre with the children were in a cinema.  Andre, called by policemen as nothing else but “fat Jew”, was sentenced to 3 years in prison being suspected in the murder. After the death of his wife, a few weeks later he brought a mistress to his place and started looking for a new wife which caused additional suspicions. He was released from the prison in 1996 and stayed 9 more years under judicial supervision, until he was legally recognized innocent. Life of his children was destroyed, his daughter was forced to quit her law studies and divorced, one son became addicted and another son has psychological problems. The financial loss for the family is estimated by over 1.7 billion euros, a small part of which was compensated by the State.
