Yakov was only five months old when his father died. Before the war he studied in Minsk in the faculty of history. He was killed in the war in 1941. Below is an excerpt from the Book of Memory:

Fukson Yakov son of Naum, 1915-1941. Born: v. Ugly, Gomel area. Recr. : c. Minsk. "Ml. politruk". Lost/ SEIVV

where "ml. politruk" is a lower rank propaganda worker in the army. The excerpt is taken from

Already in the old age his brother Ilya knew the tragic history of his death. Yakov was trying to break to the regular army forces from the Mogilev region and he was caught by the guerilla warriors who demanded that he gave away his rifle. He refused and was given a tormenting death - tied between two aspens and torn by them. Unfortunately the name of the person who told Ilya this story is lost.
