Nicole Appleton - Biography

Nicole Marie Appleton-Gallagher (born 7 December 1974) is a Canadian pop singer and actress who rose to fame as a member of All Saints. She was formerly a member of Appleton along with her older sister Natalie.

Early life

Appleton was born in Hamilton, Ontario to her British mother Mary and Canadian Jewish father, Ken. She has three older sisters; Lori, Lee, and Natalie. While growing up she lived in Toronto, New York City, and London.

Music career

In 1983, enrolled in the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London she met Melanie Blatt and they immediately became best friends. In 1995, Nicole and her sister Natalie joined Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis in forming the band All Saints. The band was highly successful.

All Saints split acrimoniously in 2001. In their five-year career, the band recorded a total of five Number 1 singles.

Nicole and Natalie formed a new band (Appleton) and released their debut album Everything's Eventual in February 2003 and a documentary (Appleton on Appleton) which was aired by the BBC, where the sisters gave an inside look into their lives.

All Saints reunited in early 2006 and released their third studio album titled Studio 1 on 13 November 2006.

Other work

In 2000, both Nicole and Natalie appeared in the poorly received film Honest.

Nicole co-hosts The Hot Desk for ITV Mobile and ITV2 - a music show for mobile phones. She is also the host of Cover Me Canada, a Canadian reality singing competition that debuted on CBC Television on September 18, 2011.

Personal life

On 7 December 1997, Appleton met Robbie Williams while filming Top of the Pops. They had a love affair and were subsequently engaged. Appleton became pregnant, and although Williams was keen to be a father, according to Appleton's biography Together, her record label (London Records) forced her to have an abortion. This statement has been denied by the label.

In 2000, Appleton started a relationship with Liam Gallagher, the frontman of the group Oasis. She gave birth to their son, Gene Gallagher, on 2 July 2001. Gallagher recorded the song "Songbird" as a token of his love for Appleton. The couple married in London on the morning of 14 February 2008.
