Origin of the name Parchuf
The name Parchuf is extremely rare.
It comes from the Hebrew word "partzuf" - face, physiognomy. Besides the literal meaning, this word is also used as a term in Kabbalah.
The first mentioning of Parchufs on the territory of the Russian empire is in "revizskaya skazka" (census) for 1834.
The following people with this family name lived in the shtetl Holopenichi in Borisov uezd of the Minsk gubernia:
Srul (Isroil) Parchuf son of Movsha, born in 1783 (died in 1825).
His nephew - Itzka (Itzhak) Parchuf son of Leizer, born in 1806, and his wife Esther.
In 1874 when part of children of Itzhak already appeared under the name Partzuf.
