Origin of the name Vigderovich

All researchers put forward the same version on the origin of this family name. The name came from the Hebrew name Avigdor mentioned in the TaNaCh. The ending "ich" indicates that the family name originates from Belorussia.

It is known that other family names, originating from the same Hebrew name Avigdor, exist as well - Vigdorov, Vigdorchik, Vigderov. In the 20-th century members of the clan Vigderovich lived in particular in the town Slonim in Grodno district, Belorussia.
