Во время одного из белогвардейских погромов вблизи Днепропетровска с поезда "сняли" Йосифа Шенкмана (мужа Сони) и Соломона Саповского (мужа её племянницы Фани) и прямо на платформе расстреляли только за то, что были евреями. Обе женщины остались с малыми детьми: у одной их было пятеро, у другой - двое.
