Origin of the name Nevler
The name Nevler comes from the name of the town Nevel. In the end of the 19-th century this name occurred mainly in two areas - in Dvinsk (today's Daugavpils) and in several places in Zaporozh'e. Apparently one talks a single family that in the end of the 19-th century, having left Nevel, separated into two main branches - eastern-Ukrainian and Latvian.
According to preliminary data that we could gather, part of the Baltic branch during the 20-th century immigrated to the Northern America. Today several descendants of this branch search for members of this family.
Here is what we could restore on the history of the Dvinsk branch:
In the mid-nineteen century two brothers lived in Dvinsk - David (born in 1842) and Moshe Nevler. Their father's name was Abraham. Moshe and his wife Sara had a son Joseph (born in 1854). Joseph's wife name was Feiga Lea (born in 1857).
By the beginning of the 20-th century in Dvinsk and surrounding areas the followin people with name Nevler lived:
Eliyahu Nevler (born in 1889) and his wife Enta. Part of their descendants left for Israel.
Moshe Nevler (born around 1890) and his wife Freidl.
Abram Nevler (born around 1890).
Vulf Nevler.
