Shlomi Braha - Biography

Shlomi Bracha (born March 21, 1962) is an Israeli Rock Musician and Record producer, best known for being the guitarist and one of the songwriters in the Israeli rock band Mashina.

Biography

Shlomi Bracha was born March 21, 1962, in Kiryat Shalom, Tel Aviv, Israel.

In 1980, during his army service he met Yuval Banai and the two started playing music together. After the army service the two split up, and Bracha teamed up with bassist Michael Benson to form the band "HaChazit Ha'amamit" ("The National Front"). In 1984 Bracha and Banai formed a new band together, Mashina, Shlomi being the electric guitarist. They brought in drummer Iggy Dayan. Their band quickly became one of the most popular rock bands in Israel. In 1985, they released their self-titled debut, which quickly became a hit on the Israeli charts. Later Avner Hodorov joined the band on keyboard and saxophone.

In May 1995 the band announced their retirement and put together four heavily-publicized farewell shows. After Mashina broke up, he started working with Rami Fortis, writing songs. They released an album together a few years later. In 2003, he released his first solo album, "Chaplin Charlie". That same year, the band re-formed in 2003 and began touring and releasing albums again.
