What is the Malo Protocol?

 Dr Malo’s protocol was designed specifically for use with All-on-4®, even for patients with substantial bone loss. The All-on-4® procedure involves placing four implants into your jawbone surgically. The implants are used to support prosthetic teeth that are attached to them.

Malo protocol means that the patients who are about to become toothless or already toothless can have their residual dental set extracted, have implants installed and have fixed implanted retained acrylic bridge manufactured on the same day. After 4–6 months, a permanent bridge in titanium or zirconium is mounted on the implants.

The Malo protocol has two stages. After the initial surgery, the patient receives a ‘temporary’ bridge lasting for about six months. During this period, your bone fuses to the titanium implants and heal. The first bridge helps you continue living your life normally and is a test drive for your new teeth. The bridge enables you to adapt.

The patient is required to have multiple checkups and consultations with their dentist. The dentist monitors the healing progress and makes any necessary adjustments. During this period, your permanent teeth are created. After six months, they are fitted.
