Daniel Naroditsky - Biography

Daniel Naroditsky (born 1995, San Mateo, California) is an American chess prodigy and an International Master. Daniel was taught chess by his father, Vladimir, in 2002. He won the under-12 World Youth Chess Championship in 2007. He currently attends Crystal Springs Uplands School. In May 2007, Daniel won the Northern California K-12 Chess Championship, being the youngest player in Northern Californian history to do so. Additionally, in May 2008, Daniel won the Northern California 9-12 Chess Championship.

His first book, Mastering Positional Chess, was published in 2010.

At the 2010 U.S. Open, Naroditsky scored 7½/9 to share second through fifth place, behind Grandmaster Alejandro Ramirez, and tied with Grandmasters Alexander Shabalov and Varuzhan Akobian. Naroditsky played in the 2011 U.S. Championship but finished with a negative score. In July 2011 he earned his first Grandmaster norm.
