Комментатор и казуист; родился в Северной Африке около 1690 года; умер в Иерусалиме 11 сентября 1760. Он продолжил свои исследования Талмуда в Алжире под руководством Соломона Церона, раввина этого города. С 1728 по 1756 г. исполнял обязанности Ayyas dayyan Алжира, в этом качестве он был очень популярен и давал много консультаций по ритуальным вопросам. В 1756 году он пошел путем Ливорно в Иерусалим, где он провел последние годы своей жизни. Главным мотивом его ухода, кажется, был прогрессивный дух, который начал чувствоваться в алжирском обществе. Ayyas был строгим талмудистом, острым казуистом.
