An Israeli academic and politician. Head of the Yiddish Studies faculty at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1952-1970). Served as member of the Knesset between 1965-1968 from the Alignment Party. Was awarded the Israel Prize in Jewish Studies in 1968.
