Are Joint Supplements Good For Cats?

 Pet joint supplements

Adding pet joint supplements to your pet's daily routine will help them keep healthy joints and lower their risk of getting arthritis as they age because of all the leaping and running around that our pets, especially cats, do on a daily basis. Giving your pet joint supplements can be very good for them, regardless of how old or young they are.

Cat supplements

Your cat will benefit from taking cat supplements since they support joint health maintenance, alleviate pain and inflammation, and restore damaged cartilage. Signs of stiffness or slowing down, decreased activity or playfulness, and other symptoms may indicate that your cat could benefit from cat supplements.

Many cat supplements are made from natural materials. Cats already produce some of these materials in their bodies, but they derive additional benefit from an increased amount. This is why cat supplements come in handy.

Besides requiring additional nutrients from supplements because their bodies may not make enough of these as is required by the cat, a cat’s normal activities such as chasing and rough play can cause the feline to experience inflammatory conditions in its body, including osteoarthritis, immune-mediated diseases that result from abnormal activity of the cat’s immune cells leading to overreacting or attacking the body, trauma, cancer, and post-surgical inflammation and pain, which necessitate giving the cat supplements.

Cat supplements can also be used to correct deficiencies in cats. For example, your cat may need a cat joint supplement if they have a medical condition with their joints that makes them unable to either absorb a particular joint-supporting nutrient or have a joint injury or disease that requires nutrients to hasten healing.

For instance, if a veterinarian established that your cat requires the B vitamins folate and cobalamine yet the cat has small intestinal disease that inhibits absorption of these nutrients, in this case, your cat will require injections of those two supplements because oral supplements won’t be absorbed either.

Cats that are pregnant or nursing may develop nutritional deficiencies that require supplementation. This is usually the case when cats become pregnant before the age of 10 to 12 years.

Supplements for cats’ joints are particularly beneficial for cats with joint pain and inflammation. Joint supplements for cats can be a great way to help cats stay healthy and comfortable. This is especially true with cats suffering from cat arthritis, or feline osteoarthritis, which is a degenerative joint disease that can cause excruciating pain and discomfort for your fluffy friend.

Whereas joint health for cats is best maintained through regular exercise and a balanced diet, adding a cat joint supplement recommended by your veterinarian to the pet’s daily routine can help them manage the symptoms of arthritic joint pain.

Types of cat joint supplements

There are three types of cat supplements that you can choose from: general vitamins and minerals, essential fatty acids, and probiotics.

The general vitamins and minerals are a variety of single or multivitamin products that are available for cats. Most cat foods usually contain all the essential vitamins and minerals a cat needs. So when you purchase cat food for your cat, you’re already providing some form of supplementation to the feline.

The essential fatty acids comprise the omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids, which are touted for their ability to keep a cat’s coat shiny and to prevent shedding. They also protect the feline’s immune system, liver, eyes, brain, and joints.

Similar to what happens with humans, omega-3 fatty acids boost a cat’s heart health and also fight high cholesterol. It is important to know that cat foods usually contain a lot more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids, which is why you need to supplement your cat's diet even if you provide it with cat food.

Probiotics are healthy bacteria that help improve your cat’s digestive health. They usually contain microorganisms such as Lactobacillus acidophilus or Lactobacillus casei, which are found in yogurt and control the overgrowth of bad bacteria in the cat’s large intestines.

Need help with supplements for cats’ joints?

When I needed help with supplements for my cats’ joints, I consulted with my veterinarian (which is the most advisable thing to do for cat owners), who introduced me to Antinol for Cats.

Antinol for Cats is a cat joint supplement that contains PCSO-524, which is a unique, patented marine lipid concentrate that helps improve cats’ joint health and mobility. The formula is 100% natural, and when taken daily, it helps a cat’s joints become healthy. It also improves the cat’s mobility, which lets them maintain an active lifestyle. Talk to your veterinarian about this formula.
