Where is God to be found? In the place where He is given entry.

Menachem Mendel of Kotzk

Family background, name spellings (2 prior generations)

Marcus Eli Ravage had previously used the surname Ravitch between 1900 and the 1910s, as an ad-hoc Americanized transcription of his original Romanian family name Revici.

Ravage's father was Judah Loeb Revici (born 1844 or 1847 in Kishinev), a struggling grain merchant, and his mother was Bella Rosenthal Revici (born 1850 in Bârlad). Judah Loeb Revici was earlier known as Yudko Leib Revich.

According to family members, Yudko's father had been a shokhet (ritual slaughterer) from Kiev Gubernaya, named Naftul Revits.
