You can hold yourself back from the sufferings of the world, that is something you are free to do and it accords with your nature, but perhaps this very holding back is the one suffering you could avoid.

Origin of the name Rubin

The most wide spread version of the origin of this name, on which majority of the researchers agree, is the following. This name comes the Hebrew TaNaChic name Reuben. In Yiddish this name was pronounced as Ruvim or Ruven. It is from this Yiddish name as many genealogists think that the name Rubin came.
The second version is that this is a name that appeared as a result of the distortion of the family name Rabin (coming from Rabi).
The third version of the name origin looks to us less convincing. According to this version many jewelers who worked the "red stone" - ruby, took the name of this stone as a family name.
In any case at first the family name is mentioned in written sources in the beginning of the 19-th century.
