Yaniv Green - Biography

Yaniv Green (born May 16, 1980 in Herzliya, Israel) is an Israeli professional basketball player. Green is a 2.06 m (6 ft 9 in) tall forward-center. He currently plays for Bancatercas Teramo and the Israeli national basketball team.

Israeli national team

Yaniv was a main factor in the surprising second-place finish of the U-20 Israeli national team at the 2000 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. He was also a part of the team that played at the FIBA Under-21 World Championship and finished in 7th place.

When Maccabi Tel Aviv beat the Toronto Raptors 105-103 in October 2005, beating an NBA team for the first time in 27 years, Green said: ""This is history. They are still talking about [Maccabi's win over the Bullets] and I'm sure 20 years from now, they will still be talking about this one."

While playing for the senior men's Israeli national basketball team, Green was the leading rebounder at the 2007 European Championship, averaging 9.3 rebounds per game.

He has more than 130 caps for the national team and in that time managed to get 1,346 points which places him 5th in the list of the all-time points leaders of the national side.
