Иона Хаимович (в крещении Иоанн, затем Иван Аркадьевич) Хазин. Учился в гимназиях в Немирове и Одессе, а с 1881 года — на математическом отделении Санкт-Петербургского университета, где в это время уже обучался его старший брат Яков; проучившись в университете два года, он скоропостижно скончался 26 сентября 1882 года.
