Джозеф Розенцвейг в возрасте тринадцати лет эмигрировал из Галиции в Венгрию, где он изучал медицину, стал врачом, и написал книгу о асфиксии, которая была издана при финансовой помощи венгерского государственного секретаря Габора Klauzal. Он переводил венгерских классиков на иврит. Его сын Адольф, который позже принял венгерское имя и назвал себя Агаи (Ag = немецкий Цвейг) получил образование в Будапеште и Вене, а потом путешествовал по Европе, Азии и Африке.
