Русско-американский пианист. Учился в Киевской и Петроградской консерваториях. Продолжал образование в Берлине перед тем, как принять должность проф. Московской консерватории. Выступал с концертами в России и Европе. Был приглашен в 1924 в США, здесь с успехом выступал, исполняя произведения П.И. Чайковского. Игра X. была оценена критиками в Нью-Йорке, Вашингтоне и в Атлантик-Сити как типично рус., «с русской душой». С 1923 по 1926 год выступал в дуэте с Дмитрием Тёмкиным в Германии, Франции и США.
