Gene Shagal

If you look on facebook, you will find many people with the last name Shagal or Шага́л (Russian spelling). I have spoken to several of them, and found out that they are all descendant from the same region around Vitebsk, Belarus (no surprise there). Also, if I may add, their physical appearance suggests definite genetic similarities: wide rounded faces, and small, Asiatic eyes. There is no doubt that we are cousines, and not far removed from each other.
